Hahah! That's awesome! Heard them talking about this on TV a few days ago. So awesome to see it actually added. Woo hoo! It's legit now.

Sorry where does it say it's legit and been added? I must have missed it o.o
And if is noob i'd be pretty annoyed. Okay that's a lie, I'd be apathetic. But there are better words out there than that. |

The true story is funnier than the fake story! This is what you get with a lazy press that regurgitates press releases.

But doesn't that take more effort? Of course, I didn't know that press releases were edible...
Or when I learned to just sit back, relax, and enjoy the chaos.

I can see it now!
Newb: See Noob Newbie:See Newb Nub: See Newbie; 1. the point, gist, or heart of something. 2. a knob or protuberance. 3. a lump or small piece: a nub of coal; a nub of pencil. 4. a small mass of fibers produced on a card, dyed brilliant colors, and introduced into yarn during the spinning process. |

It seems that there's some dispute. Although
- ethnocentric though it may be - I'm on the fence at the sheer convenience of it all and more inclined to trust the lexicographers at somewhere like the
OED.

"Web 2.0" won the millionth word, finalists included "octomom" and "slumdog", according to a local newspaper.

Do you think the hyperlink colours could be tweaked to something a bit more visible?

From Sam's beeb link: Global Language Monitor (GLM) searches the internet for newly coined terms, and once a word or phrase has been used 25,000 times, it
recognises it.
"web 2.0" has only just been used 25,000 times? i call bs and three pints of salt on this texas based global language monitor. Even if you would say web 2.0 is a word (imo it's an already existing word with a number, thus not a new word...) it has been used way over 25k times, probably reaching that target many years ago. And so by this glm standard if i hit my face on the keyboard, associated this word with something and got over 25k facebook users to plug it every it would became a recongised glm word? in the words of blackadder "utter crap." |

No problem, Becca - again, the colours aren't exactly helpful.
