Sorry for double-posting, but I thought I'd just post about how I think that the Zodiac is reflected in our hands and that our five fingers on both of our hands correspond to the pancha-bhutas (a Sanskrit term referring to the five material elements). First of all, I am not certain of the exact order of which finger corresponds to which particular element, but I think that the order may be something like this:

One's thumb represents akash (ether), the subtlest of all the five material elements. Each of the remaining four materially grosser elements emerge from akash, just as one's remaining four fingers, in a sense, spring outward from one's thumb. The thumb holds objects, just as akash holds all of the other four materially grosser elements in their proper places. This corresponds to the predominantly vital nature of akash.

The next element in descending order of subtlety is vayu (air), which corresponds to the index finger. It is the finger most commonly used to point to different directions, which also reflects the often highly mobile nature of vayu. One's thoughts also move in many different directions, which corresponds to what is universally considered to be the predominantly mental/intellectual nature of air.

The next element which is less subtle (and hence more gross) is agni (fire), which corresponds to the middle finger. Fire is universally recognised as being symbolic of passion, lust and anger. So it is no surprise to me that in most modern Western cultures, the middle finger, when pointed upwards and at someone, is considered to be vulgar and an expression of one's anger or frustration. Fire has a predominantly willful nature.

The next progressively grosser element is ap (water), which corresponds to the ring finger. The ring finger, as its name implies, is the finger on which wedding rings are traditionally worn. So it corresponds to the nature of water, which is universally considered to be a predominantly emotional nature.

The final material element (which is the grossest of the material elements) is prithvi (earth), which corresponds to the little finger. The earth element corresponds to matter in its solid state. Also, the earth element has a predominantly physical/practical nature. Solid matter of obvious shape and size which we can physically touch, hear, see, smell and taste, constitutes less than 1/10th of the ACTUAL Reality which surrounds us. Hence, the little finger (as its name implies) has the shortest length out of each of our five fingers.

I firmly believe that God has designed this and countless other universes in a SUPREMELY intelligent manner. God has manifested this universe in such a way that everything very nicely corresponds to everything else in an INFINITE web of interconnectedness. If there were 6 elements, I think we'd probably have 6 fingers to reflect this truth. I am certain that each of our five fingers correspond to the five material elements of this universe.

Furthermore, I am also certain that the Zodiac is reflected in our hands. Our thumbs have two parts, a top half and a bottom half. The top half, astrologically, represents the male gender/positive energy whilst the bottom half, astrologically, represents the female gender/negative energy.
Each of our other four fingers have three parts which represent the three modes - cardinal (rajas guna in Sanskrit), fixed (tamas guna in Sanskrit) and mutable (sattva guna in Sanskrit). The top parts of our other four fingers represent the cardinal mode, the middle parts of our other four fingers represent the fixed mode and the bottom parts of our other four fingers represent the mutable mode. Four fingers multiplied by three modes equals the twelve signs of the Zodiac.

We were made in the image of the cosmos and our bodies reflect this through their designs.
The human/humanoid form is a perfect representation of the cosmos. Like I've already stated, the five fingers on both of our hands correspond to the five elements - the thumb corresponds to ether, the index finger to air, the middle finger to fire, the ring finger to water and the little finger to earth. Similarly, the five toes on both of our feet also correspond to the five elements - the big toe to ether, the toe after that to air, the toe after that to fire, the toe after that to water and the toe after that to earth. Our head represents intelligence, which I believe to be the source of mind. Our navel represents the singularity from which our universe arose. Our heart represents emotion. The left half of our body is predominantly feminine and our left eye represents the Universal Moon. The right half of our body is predominantly masculine and our right eye represents the Universal Sun. Each of our five senses originates from one of the five elements - hearing from ether, touching (movement) from air, seeing from fire, tasting from water and smelling from earth (in descending order of subtlety). Each of our five senses corresponds to a particular organ - our ears for hearing, our skin for touching, our eyes for seeing, our tongue for tasting and our nose for smelling. Each of these five organs represent the duality of our universe - we have two ears, two halves of our bodies (ie. a left half and a right half), two eyes, two halves of our tongues (ie. a left half and a right half) and two nostrils which form our noses. Your aura signifies that you literally extend beyond your own body. Furthermore, the word 'space' is considered interchangeable with the word 'ether', though I think that ether is INFINITELY more than what most orthodox scientists believe space to be (a vacuum). Therefore, I think:

Universal mind = outer space

Human mind = inner space

Also, the lines on the palm of your left hand represent what you were born as whilst the lines on the palm of your right hand represent what you will eventually become throughout your life. In other words, the lines on the palm of your left hand represent your potential from when you were born whilst the lines on the palm of your right hand represent the direction you are heading towards with that potential.
I think that the lines on the soles of our feet as well as the lines on our foreheads also have their own stories to tell.

You are a miniature version of the forces, functions and features of the universe in which you exist. The whole corresponds to the parts of the whole. The lower corresponds to the higher. The micro corresponds to the macro. Everything fits together very nicely!
