16 years ago today Sonic CD was released, a game that introduced us to both the girl who would be Sonic's stalker and the robot who would be fondly
remembered as the original fake hedgehog. The game would be fondly remembered for years to come for the innovative
features of its design, such as time travel to the past and two possible futures, Sonic's super peel-out manoeuvre and of course an extremely catchy
soundtrack. The last one was a most noteworthy feature as this was the first time Sonic had had CD quality audio accompanying his exploits - something which,
as a musician and composer / remixer myself I know would have been seen as a glorious opportunity to make something amazing. Certainly the opening and ending
songs show this =)
So in honour of this great day, I'd like to take a minute to tip my hat to the birthday girl and robot. Happy Birthday you guys.

25 years ago today, a guy was born who would later grow up to be an avid Sonic fan, being hooked by the first Sonic the Hedgehog in its 8-bit incarnation. He would go on to join a thriving community of Sonic fans, eventually being appointed as a Moderator and later an Administrator for one of the biggest Sonic fan Message Boards on the net - and make a lot of good friends and crazy memories along the way, including travelling 600 miles to spend a day with people he'd never met in real life, dressing up as video game characters, staying up 'til crazy hours in the mornings chatting to people halfway round the world, and even crossing a few seas and oceans to go and meet them.
...yep, that'd be me. =3
